2006 Race Information

This triathlon features a unique swim, run, swim in the four pristine lagoons at Ko Olina, a bike route on the beautiful Ko Olina property and around Campbell Industrial Park, and finishes with a run along the lagoons of Ko Olina. This race is open to all local, national, and international triathletes. The general public is invited to attend. We are currently looking for volunteers to make the Ko Olina Triathlon and Jamba Juice Keiki Triathlon great events.

PACKET PICKUP
Packet pickup for the Adult race will be at two different times. Packet pickup for the Keiki race is only on Friday.

Friday, October 6th from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. At the Jamba Juice store located at 940 Auahi Street. The corner of Ward Ave and Auahi St. in the same parking lot as Sports Authority - Ward Center. See Map Here.

· You can still register for the race at this time. Registration closes at 8:00pm.
· Only you can pickup your packet. Parents may pickup their Keiki packet.
· ALL current USAT members MUST bring their USAT card as proof of membership.
· All Military entrants and their spouses must bring proper ID.
· There is NO race day registration or packet pick up. No exceptions.

Saturday-October 7th, 11:00am-1:00pm. Ko Olina Resorts, Lagoon 4.
· Same rules stated above apply.

If you are a Relay Team only one team member needs to pickup the team packet.

TRANSITION
The transition area will be located at Race Central – Lagoon #4 (See Official Race Map).

STARTING AREA
The race starts at Lagoon #1, located at the beautiful JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa (See Official Race Map).

Timing Chips, Swim Caps and Body Marking distribution will take place outside the transition area at Lagoon #4 between the hours of 4:30 am and 6:30 am. Competitors MUST wear the assigned swim cap to participate in the race.

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND DISTANCES

SWIM
Elite / Age Group / Military / Teams - 660 meters
Keiki - 7-8: 50m
Keiki - 9-10: 100m
Keiki - 11-12: 100m
Keiki - 13-14: 100m

Swimmers will swim each of the four beautiful lagoons of Ko Olina, and run between them on a marked course. The Keiki will swim in Lagoon #4. This course will be monitored by USAT officials.

BIKE
Elite / Age Group / Military / Teams - 30k
Keiki - 7-8: 1.0 miles
Keiki - 9-10: 2.5 miles
Keiki - 11-12: 2.5 miles
Keiki - 13-14: 2.5 miles

The Bike course will take competitors from the transition area at Lagoon #4. Cyclists will head out onto the Ko Olina property on a professionally marked course. The Elite and Age Group Divisions will follow the course off the property onto Farrington Highway to the Campbell Industrial Park exit. The Keiki will bike on a well marked course, located on the Ko Olina Property. These courses will be monitored by USAT officials.

RUN
Elite / Age Group / Military / Teams - 4.5 Miles
Keiki - 7-8: .5 mile
Keiki - 9-10: 1.3 mile
Keiki - 11-12: 1.3 mile
Keiki - 13-14: 1.3 mile

The run takes you back to the lagoons as you run along the pedestrian path which skirts the beautiful lagoons. The Keiki will also run along the pedestrian path on a shortened version of the course. These courses will be monitored by USAT officials.

AWARDS
The award ceremonies will begin immediately following the race.
Awards will be given in the following categories:

Prize Money will be given in the Elite category and will go to the top five male and female finishers.

1st - $1000
2nd - $650
3rd - $450
4th - $250
5th - $125

Age Group – awards will be given to the top three finishers (male and female) in each of the following: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+

Military - awards will be given to the top 3 finishers (male and female).

Relay Teams - awards will be given to the top three teams in each of the relay divisions, Male, Female, and Coed.

Jamba Juice Keiki Championship – awards will be given to the top 3 finishers (male and female)in each of the following: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, and 13-14. Special finisher awards will be given to all Keiki participants.

Official results will be posted throughout the day with the finial official results posted on this website within 24 hours.

The Official travel partner and sponsor is PANDA TRAVEL, HAWAII . Reservations can be made for either air or hotel accommodations including the beautiful JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina.

USA TRIATHLON RULES
The Ko Olina Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. USAT Officials will be responsible for all rule enforcement of the age group race.

Some of the most common infractions include:

  • Assistance along the course (e.g. help with wetsuit removal)
  • Missing or unbuckled hard shell helmets
  • Drafting, blocking and position foul on the bicycle

The Ko Olina Triathlon will be timed using the Champion Chip and Timeline Hawaii as our official timing company. Each participant will be issued a Champion Chip which must be worn during the entire event. The chips will be collected at the finish area. Competitors that do not return their chips will be charged $30.00 for chip replacement.
