2005 Ko Olina Triathlon
Jamba Juice Keiki Triathlon Championships
USAT Collegiate Regional Championships
at
Ko Olina Resort and Marina
October 1-2, 2005 - 7:00am Island of Oahu

This triathlon features a unique swim, run, swim in the four pristine lagoons at Ko Olina, a bike route on the Ko Olina property and around Campbell Industrial Park , finishing with a run along the beautiful lagoons of Ko Olina.  This race is open to all local, national, and international tri-athletes.  The general public is invited to attend.

PACKET PICKUP / Late Registration

FRIDAY – September 30th

  • KEIKI - 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
  • ADULT - 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

LOCATION: Jamba Juice – Ward Village Shops

  • All participants MUST pick-up their package.
  • Parents or Guardian of Keiki may pick-up packets and rack bikes for Keiki
  • Bring Photo ID and USAT annual card if you have one. Must show valid USAT card or pay one-day mandatory daily license fee. $3 - Keiki and $9 - Adults
  • If you have already paid this fee then disregard the above statement.
  • Military participants MUST show valid military ID.
  • There is NO mandatory briefing. All the info rmation for USAT is in your package.
  • Packets will include: Race numbers, USAT briefing notes, Race info rmation, and special goodies from our sponsors.

PRE RACE BIKE RACKING
There will be no requirement to rack bikes the day before.  Please arrive early to go through the registration process and rack your bile.


Issuing of Timing CHIPS, SWIM CAPS, BODY MARKING will be issued race morning.

TRANSITION

The transition area will be located at Race Central – Lagoon #4 (see race map).

STARTING AREA
The race starts at Lagoon #1, located at the beautiful JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa (see race map).

Champion Chip distribution and body marking will take place directly outside of the transition area at Lagoon #4 between the hours of 4:30 am and 6:30 am . Competitors must wear the assigned swim cap (in race packet) to participate in the race.

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND DISTANCES

SWIM
Elite / Age Group / Collegiate / Teams - 660 meters
Keiki -
7-8: 50m
Keiki - 9-10: 100m
Keiki - 11-12: 100m
Keiki - 13-14: 100m

Swimmers will swim each of the four beautiful lagoons of Ko Olina, and run between them on a marked course. The Keiki will swim in Lagoon #4. This course will be monitored by USAT officials.

BIKE
Elite / Age Group / Collegiate / Teams - 30k
Keiki -
7-8: 1.0 miles
Keiki - 9-10: 2.5 miles
Keiki - 11-12: 2.5 miles
Keiki - 13-14: 2.5 miles

The Bike course will take competitors from the transition area at Lagoon #4. Cyclists will head out onto the Ko Olina property on a professionally marked course. The Elite and Age Group Divisions will follow the course off the property onto Farrington Highway to the Campbell Industrial Park exit. The Keiki will bike on a well marked course, located on the Ko Olina Property. These courses will be monitored by USAT officials.

RUN
Elite / Age Group / Collegiate / Teams - 4.5 Miles
Keiki -
7-8: .5 mile
Keiki - 9-10: 1.3 mile
Keiki - 11-12: 1.3 mile
Keiki - 13-14: 1.3 mile

The run takes you back to the lagoons as you run along the pedestrian path which skirts the beautiful lagoons. The Keiki will also run along the pedestrian path on a shortened version of the course. These courses will be monitored by USAT officials.

AWARDS
Age Groups, Keiki, Collegiate and Military Awards will be presented at the Ko Olina Triathlon.  Prize Money will be given in the Elite Category and will go to the top five male and female finishers. 1 st - $1000, 2 nd - $650, 3 rd - $450, 4 th - $250, 5 th - $125.  Awards will be given to the top three teams in each of the relay divisions.

Age group divisions will include the top three finishers (male and female) in each of the following: 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+.

Keiki divisions will include the top 3 finishers in each of the following: 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14.
Special finisher awards will be given to all Keiki participants.

Official results will be posted after completion of each race.  The award ceremonies will begin immediately following each day's race event.

The Official travel partner and sponsor is PANDA TRAVEL, HAWAII . Reservations can be made for either air or hotel accommodations including the beautiful JW Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa at Ko Olina.

USA Triathlon Rules
The Ko Olina Triathlon is sanctioned by USA Triathlon. USAT Officials will be responsible for all rule enforcement of the age group race.

Some of the most common infractions include:

  • Assistance along the course (e.g. help with wetsuit removal)

  • Missing or unbuckled hard shell helmets

  • Drafting, blocking and position foul on the bicycle

Chip Scoring
The Ko Olina Triathlon will be timed using the Champion Chip and Timers Plus as our official timing company. Each participant will be issued a Champion Chip which must be worn during the entire event. The chips will be collected at the finish area. Competitors that do not return their chips will be charged $30.00 for chip replacement.

There will be NO REFUNDS!
